Kindle Matchbook

Amazon has announced a new service called Kindle Matchbook.

This service allows Amazon customers to buy cheap Kindle versions of ‘any’ paper book previously purchased through Amazon – going back to 1995!

The one ‘gotcha’ at the moment: the book’s publisher has to enroll in the service.

Russ Grandinetti, Amazon’s VP of Kindle Content, believes that there will be approximately 10,000 books available when the service starts in October.

While this may be big news for Amazon and Kindle readers, O’Reilly Media has been offering $4.99 EBook upgrades for purchasers of its own or Microsoft Press paper books for at least one year. And if you have purchased an EBook, O’Reilly will let you purchase the paper version for 40% off of the list price.
